Roles & Responsibilities
Position Overview
The Communications Chair leads the strategy, coordination, and execution of CISV USA’s internal and external communications. This role ensures that CISV USA presents a clear, consistent, and mission-aligned voice across all channels, strengthens engagement with members and chapters, and elevates CISV’s visibility and impact in the wider community.
The Communications Chair works closely with the Executive Director, Social Media Chair, and website administrators.
Key Responsibilities
- Communications Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and maintain an annual communications plan aligned with organizational priorities and program cycles.
- Ensure messaging supports recruitment, fundraising, program participation, and brand visibility.
- Serve as the primary communications advisor to the Executive Director and Board.
- Uphold CISV USA’s brand standards and tone across all materials and channels.
Time Commitment
- Approx. 5–10 hours per month; higher during major campaigns or program seasons.
- Attendance at meetings (virtual or in-person) and periodic committee meetings.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Understanding of nonprofit or chapter-based communication.
- Ability to coordinate many voices into one consistent message.
- Basic familiarity with social media platforms, website editing, and digital communications tools.
- Collaborative mindset, responsiveness, and commitment to CISV values.
