The Expansion committee is responsible for aiding in the development of Chapters in communities where no Chapter currently exists. Specific duties include the following:
- Review, on a regular basis, the status of efforts to establish Chapters in communities outside the geographic boundaries of current CISV USA Chapters.
- Participate in national advertising and information campaigns. Such participation shall occur in cooperation with the Public Relations committee of CISV USA.
- Assist Phase 1 and Phase 2 groups by whatever means are deemed practical and appropriate. Such assistance could include distribution of information about CISV; familiarizing local committee members with CISV programs, goals, and organization development techniques; visits to the community; and on-line PowerPoint presentations.
- Provide on-going support and guidance, including holding monthly on-line meetings with Phase 1 and Phase2 groups as they progress through the steps of pre-Chapter status.
- Assist groups that have met the requirements for Chapter status in applying for recognition as a CISV USA Chapter, in accordance with Article VIII of CISV USA’s Articles of Incorporation and Code of Regulations.
- Serve as a liaison between the Chapter Development committee and Phase 1 and Phase 2 groups until they achieve Chapter status.
- Undertake other duties as requested by the Executive Director.
COMMITTEE CHAIR QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of the process by which groups progress through pre-Chapter Phases 1 and 2.
- Good interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with people who may be new to CISV.
- Realistic expectations and an ability to motivate and encourage others.
