As an independent organization CISV is not affiliated with any government, corporation, church, union, or special interest group. CISV is comprised of individuals from many of these groups, but our common bond is the philosophy of CISV.
Although independent, CISV works with like-minded associations and organizations to pursue common purposes and share information: Youth Service America
— CISV USA is partnering with YSA to participate in Global Youth Service Day.
Global Youth Service Day
— All Chapters of CISV USA have committed to participating in Global Youth Service Day. In 2009, GYSD will take place over the weekend of April 24-26.
UNESCO
— As part of CISV International, we enjoy participating in an operational relationship with UNESCO
In collaboration with PeaceOneDay.org CISV USA participates in UN International Peace Day, annually on September 21
CISV USA participates in the NYLC.org annual conference. In 2009, it will take place in Nashville, March 18-21.
Six Billion Paths to Peace, an initiative of the Shinnyo-en Foundation: http://www.sef.org/CISV.html.
A unique program that some CISV USA chapters have begun offering domestically is called a “Local Village”. Creating a successful Local Village requires the development of multiple partnerships with local community organizations. The Jacksonville Chapter has conducted several Local Villages and calls this annual program “Faces of Jacksonville”. For more info, see: http://jax.cisvusa.org
